Taklinobo Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Southwestern-most Inner Mongolia. The Taklinobo Fm was named by the No. 3 Party of Geology, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Bureau of Geology in 1973. The type locality is in Taklinobo- Aduzhangmeng Mountain, Bayanxibie area, Alxa Zuoqi, Inner Mongolia. Uppermost formation in Nuorgong Gr.
Synonym: (塔克林敖包组); Tekelin’aobao Fm
Lithology and Thickness
Lower part is dark thin-bedded quartzite intercalated with muddy limestone. Middle part consists of variegated slate, phyllite with fine-grained quartz sandstone. Upper part of the formation is composed of stromatolite-bearing blue-grey, brown-yellow dolomite, dolomitic limestone and thin-bedded limestone. It is stable in lithology but changeable in thickness laterally, for example, it is about 4000 m thick in Zhonggashun, but only 1600 m around Aduzhangmeng Mountain-Taklinobo.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact with underlying Shabugengci Fm.
Upper contact
It is in conformable contact with Bayingxibie Gr.
Regional extent
Southwestern-most Inner Mongolia. It is distributed only around Bayanxibie, Alxa Zuogi.

The main taxa of stromatolites found in the upper part are Stratifera f., and Kussiella f.
